Great Conroe ISD Schools Close to Home

Students in The Meadows at Imperial Oaks attend the highly-rated Conroe Independent School District.

Kaufman Elementary School
One of the strongest-performing elementary schools in Conroe ISD, Kaufman Elementary boasts an engaging curriculum in a positive environment. Students also have opportunities to discover and feed interests by participation in a variety of extra-curricular activities such as art, choir, music, robotics, Junior Achievement, news programs and yearbook.

Kaufman Cougars score well above state and district peers on all levels of the state-mandated STAAR tests. In addition, the school has achieved Level 1 certification in Marzano High Reliability Schools, meaning the school has created a safe and collaborative culture that fuels student achievement. The school has earned a coveted Exemplary "A" rating from the Texas Education Agency — one of only a handful of elementary schools in Conroe ISD to do so. Kaufman Elementary also has one of Conroe ISD’s smallest populations of all Kindergarten through fourth grade campuses.

Vogel Intermediate School
Nurturing students through those transformative years of fifth and sixth grade, teachers and staff at Vogel Intermediate emphasize respect, responsibility and resourcefulness in all that they do. Students follow an advanced curriculum that sets the foundation for the rigors of junior high and high school.

Beyond their studies, however, students can explore a wide variety of extracurricular activities with more than a dozen clubs open to students — coding, gardening, genealogy clubs just to name a few — and programs in orchestra, art, band and choir. Student Council gives Vogel Texans their first taste of leadership while the Vogel News Network encourages organization and the importance of meeting deadlines.

Students record impressive scores on state-mandated STAAR tests, earning a distinction in ELA/Reading, and the school has earned a Recognized rating from the TEA.

Irons Junior High School
Supported by a team committed to helping them succeed, the seventh and eighth grade students at Irons Junior High are used to excellence, achieving three distinctions from the Texas Education Agency — mathematics, postsecondary readiness and comparative academic growth. The school has earned a Recognized rating from the TEA.

Students can venture into a variety of studies to enhance the core learning they receive at Irons, with electives in:

• Computer Applications
• Computer SkillsClub Sports
• Exploring Career Connections
• Human Services
• Technology
• Teen Leadership
• Theater

The arts are also emphasized, with students required to participate in either band, choir or orchestra. Young athletes can hone their skills in volleyball, football, basketball and track. Drill team, broadcasting and Student Council are other activities.

The many opportunities afforded at Irons Junior High — and the collaborative spirit between students, teachers, parents and the community — help students grow intellectually, physically, emotionally and socially.

Oak Ridge High School
Understanding that the individual needs of each student vary greatly, Oak Ridge High School offers a comprehensive mix of courses, programs and extra-curricular activities. It is home to the Academy for Careers in Engineering and Science and the more than a dozen study paths within its Career and Technical Education program range from agriculture to video production. Advanced Placement, dual credit, pre-AP and honors courses are offered and the Air Force Junior ROTC program emphasizes aerospace science and leadership training.

Oak Ridge High School has achieved Level 2 certification in the Marzano High Reliability Schools program, establishing the “Effective Teaching in Every Classroom” tier that focuses on the responsibility of school leaders and teachers in ensuring high-quality instruction.

Wide-ranging clubs incorporate service, with students engaging in community projects to build active and responsible leadership. Fine arts programs at Oak Ridge High School are offered in dance, band, orchestra, art, theater arts and choir. There are 15 athletic programs at the school, from football and cheerleading to power lifting and water polo.

First-year students attend a ninth-grade only campus that is adjacent to the full campus, allowing the younger students to adjust to high school. Oak Ridge has earned a Recognized rating from the TEA.
