Named by Niche.com as the Best School District in Montgomery County in 2023 and 2024, Conroe ISD offers a comprehensive academic program and enriching extra-curricular offerings. The district’s athletic program performs well at local and state levels, routinely winning multiple state championships annually.
In 2022, the district was named a Texas Art Education Association District of Distinction for its visual arts curriculum. It is also a nine-time recipient of the National Association of Music Merchants Foundation’s Best Communities for Music Education Award. ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS
Kaufman Elementary School offers a fun and challenging learning environment with strong programs in the arts and sciences and programs such as Destination Imagination, Gifted & Talented Program, Music, Junior Achievement, High Achiever, Honor Roll, YMCA after-school program, and more.
MIDDLE SCHOOLS
Vogel Intermediate School serves students in the fifth and sixth grades, with teachers and staff dedicated to guiding students on a path to being respectful, responsible, and resourceful citizens who will collaboratively improve the world. The school offers a variety of programs, including band, orchestra, theater, student council, art, choir, Destination Imagination, robotics, and more.
Irons Junior High School provides an environment where seventh and eighth graders can grow intellectually, physically, emotionally, and socially. This commitment to excellence can be found in its many academic programs — including honors and some that earn students high school credit. Extra-curricular activities include choir, drill team, robotics, theater, tennis, soccer, golf, football, and more.
HIGH SCHOOLS
Oak Ridge High School is a comprehensive school with courses to meet students’ diversified needs and goals. Advanced Placement, pre-AP, honors, and dual credit courses are offered, as well as an Academy for Careers in Engineering and Science and Career and Technical Education courses in a variety of subjects. The school boasts an Air Force Junior ROTC program that emphasizes aerospace science and leadership training. Wide-ranging clubs and organizations allow students to follow their passions and engage in activities that build responsible citizenship. The primary high school serves grades 10-12. There is a separate campus for ninth-grade students.
HIGHER EDUCATION | COLLEGE
Lone Star College With colleges throughout the Houston area as well as online courses, Lone Star College offers a diverse program of bachelor and associate degrees and workforce and continuing education certificates. Just 10 miles from our community is Lone Star College-Montgomery, which in addition to classrooms also offers a music hall, performing arts center, library, café, wellness center, bookstore, Maverick Student Center and Maverick Conference Center.
Sam Houston State University offers nine undergraduate degrees, including education, nursing and accounting, as well as eight master’s degrees and three doctoral degrees at a convenient location in The Woodlands Center.
